On its journey towards mercury, the space probe Messenger first passes through Venus to drive its gravity. The scientific instruments on board, are a laser experiment of great interest, they will make the most of probe passing via the orbit of earth’s evil twin.
Venus is similar in size to our planet, but with an atmosphere made up of carbon dioxide and clouds of sulphuric acid, at a temperature so high it can melt lead.
